Executive Editor of DC Comics Eddie Berganza and Editor-in-Chief Bob Harras joined CBR TV during Comic-Con International to discuss the publisher’s fast-approaching September relaunch, getting their sales pitches on the five most anticipated books according to CBR’s initial poll (“Justice League”, “Green Lantern,” “Batman,” “Action Comics” and “Aquaman”) as well as the five least anticipated (“I, Vampire,” “O.M.A.C.,” “Voodoo,” “Hawk and Dove” and “Men of War”).

Harras and Berganza go into detail on what readers should expect from Greg Capullo on “Batman,” Grant Morrison’s “Action” and Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis’ “Aquaman.” They also explain why readers should be more excited about Josh Fialkov’s take on the DC Universe vampire lore, Dan DiDio and Keith Giffen’s journey into the Fourth World, why Rob Liefeld should never be underestimated, the allure of Ron Marz’s Voodoo and the importance of expanding DC’s Universe with “Men of War.”

I’ve not even listened to why this should be the case but I think underestimating him might actually be the kindest thing you can do, that way if he delivers artwork that’su00a0appallingu00a0you’ll beu00a0pleasantlyu00a0amazed he didn’t deliver his ownu00a0faecesu00a0wrapped in paper towel.u00a0nnHave you seen Theu00a0Infinite? He’s tracing the same face with occasionally different mouths, you can tell because the right eye isu00a0skewu00a0wiff on every panel, the same exact way each time.When will these companies learn?

They defend Rob Liefeld who’s art isu00a0indefensible andu00a0objectivelyu00a0awful and who’s only still around BECAUSE he sells books to people frankly stupid enough to buy them.u00a0nnIt’s got nothing to do with personal taste, this isn’t Coke Vs Pepsi it’s got everything to do with DC wanting to be takenu00a0seriouslyu00a0as a comics publisher and then employing this pair of clown shoes because ‘he sells books’. Do you know who he sells them to?     I haven’t been reading comics long enough to know why so many fans hate Rob Liefield’s artwork. u00a0All I’ll say is I’m excited about Hawk and Dove; the preview artwork looks pretty good to me, so I don’t get what all the fuss is about. u00a0Sterling Gates is one of my favorite writers, so I know the story is going to be solid as well. u00a0I’m excited about this and many other titles in the Young Justice line, and can’t wait for September to roll out these titles.

    It’s refreshing to see some genuinely nice top execs speak, when Jonas shuts up. u00a0Yes they don’t have much to say, and the praise for the artwork is unanimously revolutionary from what has been u00a0leaked, esp Animal Man, I Vampire, and today the new logos are out. u00a0 Artistically, DC is living up to the challenge of what they are wanting to do. u00a0The question really is can they out write their competition. u00a0Their rosters are LOADED. u00a0 Brian Azzarello is writing WONDER WOMAN. u00a0Why has no one really talked about THAT. u00a0DC is causing such a high level of excitement that they know they have to come through. u00a0These are big players who not only can get the job done but know the stakes. u00a0These are scary times, this is what we WANT! u00a0Exciting times! u00a07 days away. u00a0Midnight Madness at Role of the Die.

    Fuck that. I see Rob Liefeld’s name on any book, I’m turned off and hope that the book fails. I find it interesting now that MEN OF WAR, HAWK AND DOVE, BLACKHAWKS, O.M.A.C, MR. TERRIFIC, and STATIC SHOCK are axed. Oh, love the part when Harris stated that Rob is going to connect readers. More like disconnect. u00a0u00a0nnAnd VOODOO, that didn’t last long when Marz only lasted four issues do editorial clusterfuck. u00a0
