"Batman's" Gotham Was... Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo
Marvel Comics Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso brought AXEL-IN-CHARGE to New York Comic Con for a special CBR TV edition, where he and Kiel Phegley had their weekly conversation, discussing everything from the hustle and bustle of preparing for a big show like NYCC and the different view he has of the process from the vantage point of his EiC position as opposed to his time directly editing specific titles.
Axel also discusses the way in which Marvel handles dealing with up and coming creators like writer Dennis Hopeless, watching young talent grow and evolve under fire and seeing who thrives in the Marvel Universe. Also discussed was Alonso’s personal decision to remain on the editorial side of the desk rather than jumping into the writing pool along with his peace of mind that comes from knowing the editors working under him feel similarly.
Finally, Alonso discusses the level of involvement he has with Marvel Studios and “The Avengers,” what goes into syncing promotions and complimentary projects between Comics and Studios and the current NBA issues.
