CBR TV @ CCI – Kirkman & Adlard Talk “The Walking Dead”
“Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman and series artist Charlie Adlard shambled aboard the CBR Yacht during Comic-Con International in San Diego to discuss the mega-popular Image Comics title — after reminiscing about Kirkman’s first appearance on CBR TV six long years ago. Kirkman and Adlard discussed the long road the zombie epic travelled from comics to becoming AMC’s hit series, the importance of “Walking Dead” as an accessible entry point for bringing new readers into comics, and the reasons behind not expanding the franchise into other titles following different survivors across the planet.
Adlard discusses his run on the title and the appeal in having a long form story under his belt, with both creators looking back at their early issues, the evolution in Adlard’s art and Kirkman’s scripts over the years, how developing the storylines has changed as their working relationship has become more and more comfortable, Adlard drawing fans into the series and more.
