“Green Lantern” WonderCon Footage

4 minutes of select footage from the upcoming “Green Lantern” feature film as shown to attendees at WonderCon. Directed by Martin Campbell, Green Lantern stars Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Mark Strong, Angela Bassett, Temuera Morrison, Jay O. Sanders, Taika Waititi and Jon Tenney. It opens in 3D and 2D on June 17.

    Oh my godu2026 that looks just awesome. Every detail of the footage is so well done – I just canu2019t wait for this movie to come out now! Sinestro looks glorious, the death of Abin looks courageous and significant, Parallax looks scary as hell and the two (three if you count the false start) recitations of the oath are delivered beautifully. Every visual aspect of this movie just lived up and beyond the expectation of fanboys everywhere.

    been a GL fan all my life and kinda cringed at the oath – but that’s about it! This is nice and dark, and fun, and like nothing we’ve seen in film before. YEAH!

    This movie looks awesome, and will be the big comics-based hit of 2011. It has the Avatar vibe that will draw audiences in.nnThe fanboys can stay at home if they want (I think we all know they’ll be first in line no matter how much they whinge!) ’cause the 0.00000001 percent of the box office they draw in makes little difference.

    And JUST LIKE THAT its ON again. Faith restored, hype renewed, geekgasm commencing.nnSeriously, summer 2011 will go down in geekdom history as the year with no peer. I can’t believe how many movies FOR US will dominate cineplexes during May-July. I just hope we can embrace it instead of falling back on our stereotypical insatiability. I plan on being gratified continually with parade of entertainment.

    Why are people being such D*@ks. This movie appears to be good to go. love how geeked out, over zealous fanboys want to downplay and trash anything that doesn’t go how they want it to. Special effects seem great…looking forward to a movie that can draw in more then just comic book droolers.

    I was pleasantly surprised by this (after the first trailer). My feeling that Reynolds was an epic miscast is beginning to relax a little bit. I would rather watch him in Deadpool and give this role to somebody less goofy, but he seems to be pretty serious with only a few moments of levity. I don’t think the animation looks great. It is dark and hard to look at at times, and facial expressions look pretty bad. But the story looks really exciting, and that is what matters the most to me. I’ll be there in the theater for sure, but this is number four on my summer comic movie excitement list.

    I’m a life long Green Lantern fan. The movie looks better than what we’ve seen but Ryan Reynolds still makes me cringe. Big time. He’s a good actor but blatently miscast. I don’t see why he had to do this flick, he should have just done Deadpool (which he is perfect for) and left this for someone better ‘suited’ for the role like Nathon Fillon, Bradley Cooper… wow, just anyone else. Sorry Ryan, I like your work but not in this movie.

      PS. The thing is, its very hard to take this movie seriously (which should have a Donner Superman The Movie kind of tone/seriousness) when I see the scenes with Ryan Reynolds. It’s like I’m watching this and going WOW… then I see Ryan Reynolds acting like a goofball (like in the scene with the oath) and it just throws off the mood. Maybe that’s the way the character is written but it still makes it hard to swallow or to take this film seriously.

        You have a point, he seems to be playing this as “this is ridiculous” but he just got the ring from a dead martian, i would believe anything after just seeing the ship crash!
