I really wish if they were gonna do this, that they actually used X-men who made sense for the roles and the time frame.nnIt just seems like they pulled names out of a hat.nnAlso, Havok’s costume looks terrible. God in heaven, it looks terrible.

It looks like a pretty cool conglomerate of various aspects and characters of the X-Franchise mashed into the 1960′s. Some things are a little off, but overall I think they are doing something pretty cool and unique.

  • Erick

why u do this, my precious memories just get wiped out with this movie

As a non X-men reader the continuity stuff isn’t an issue, nor will it be for the general audience. nnI think this looks great, McAvoy and Fassbender especially…

  • Ryan Winn

Already looks like the best X-men film!

  • Vivica Kang

I love the trailer but I do agree if they put the orginal five on there it would make much better sense but they seem fun and fresh! I just hope Angel doesn’t die she wasn’t notice during the other fight scenes.

Looking gooooood. Hope that one didn’t give away too much, though. The entire final sequence seems a bit spoiled.nnSeriously, this summer has the potential to be geek paradise. I can’t wait!

  • Christopher!

This looks absolutely fantastic! Gonna be one of the best films of the summer for sure! The designs are excellent! Pun intended! Its great to see BELIEVEABLE adaptations of the classic X-uniforms! Love that Havok is sporting the suit to help control /channel/funnel his powers! Awesome!

I have to laugh at the dumb Marvel fanboys complaining about ‘continuity’ – Have they actually tried reading anything Marvel have done in the last 10 years? Continuity? In Marvel Comics? Ha Ha.nnAs for not using the “original 5″? Who cares. The three X-Men movies from the last decade used a mish-mash of characters and altered their timelines – have the fanboys conveniently forgotten that? You want to blame anyone for ballsing things up, blame Bryan Singer and Zak Penn for having a teenage Iceman in X-Men, but no Angel or Beast.nnAlso, Havok is and always has been a much more likable character than Cyclops.nnThese guys should stop whining, it’s immature and I feel honestly embarrassed for them. If they don’t want to see the film fine, nobody’s twisting their arms, but throwing tantrums and bitching is just petty and ridiculous.nnI think this will be great. The period setting will be brilliant, and the teenage mutants being banded together to form the team is a great story, and really what Singer should have done in the first X-men movie, if anything. Start at the beginning.nnIt’s what Nolan did with Batman, after all.

Yes I agree Ppl are throwing tantrums and bitching as if its that serious. Although Im gonna say I wish they’d use Cyclops seeing How he barely got any shine or spot light within the first 3 films. Not to mention he is definitly more popular than Havok and even within the 1st film it is Mention that Cyclops was his first student and X-man! nTo add on It wouldve been great if they used both and we finally got to see something centerd around Scott and something great for Havok (as I get the feeling he isnt going to do much). As far as sticking to the comic I would’ve been cooler if the kept Imagery effects of Havoks Powers closer to the comic book. His energy blast looks like Scotts and it looks fake.

Nooo. Xavier said he was AMONG his first students along with Jean and Storm.

This movie is gonna rock the summer movie season. I must admit I don’t like some of these new cast members especially Emma Frost but time will tell how talented these young actors truly are. I understand x-fans wanting to see their favorites but you guys need to give the movie makers a break and just enjoy the epic story.

These trailers are reeling me in. I only wish they hadn’t taken out Rebecca Romijn. Isn’t Mystique as old as Wolverine? Rebecca being as talented and beautiful as she is I’m sure would butter up that roll perfectly like she did time and time again.

  • Theprettiesthaymaker

Holy crap! Was that Azazel, Nightcrawler’s father, at 1:23?!?!

  • kalorama

This looks quite good. Looking forward to it.

Ironically, the trailer looks incredibly well done; while at the same time looking like the typical pretentious, over-the-top, self-referential, mutant psycho babble that the X-Titles (in general) have long since become. nnThankfully, there was No wolverine in sight.nBut it’s a safe bet he’ll make a cameo somewhere in the film (barring contractual obligations, of course).

You know it’d actually be slightly cool if Wolverine appeared in the background for a legimate purpose. Wasn’t he with the CIA during the Cuban Missile Crisis (Agents of Atlas Vol 2 has Jimmy Woo bumping into him in the jungles of Cuba?). You’re right in saying it would be terrible if he was the big fanfare of the movie, but a throw away glimpse of him in a bar in Cuba or whatever would a great cameo. It’s not like the continuity of these movies is particularly tight anyway.

    - “X-Men”: Cyclops was 1st student and X-Mann-”1st Class”: Obviously not the case heren-”XO: Wolverine”: set in the 70s, Emma is a teen, taken to Xaiver’s schooln-”1st Class”: set in 60s, Emma is in her 30s (!…? Amazing how nobody really notes this!)n-”X3″: Beast joined the X-Men at some unrevealed point, had to be after Cyclopsn-”1st Class”: Beast is here, and there is no CyclopsnnI’m sure there’s more. Like XO: Wolverine the game had Wraith as Nightcrawler’s father, but Azazel exists now (Plus that would make Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler about 16 years younger than Marsden’s Cyclops…yeah, ok). So the movie error’s already existed before this one.nnAs far as not using the O5 from the comic, If there’s 616, Ultimate U, Zombie U, Days of Future whatever, Age of X, Age of Apocolypse, etc, why should this film be looked at any different in comparison to anything else? Pryde of the X-Men, The 90s cartoon, Evolution, Wolverine & the X-Men and upcoming X-Men Anime all differ, but they’re all X-Men.nnThis is just another interpretation of the X-Men, nothing more or less. With that perspective it doesn’t matter what they do. Someone will redo it later anyway, just like comic book retcons.

  • Fugfar

the continuity gripe is a legit one. x-men in the 60′s were the first 5. constant reboots, and ‘new visions’ in the current comic timeline, leave me out as a fan. it is a convoluted mess. why should i care about any character, or their story when its all gonna change again in a few months?

  • Gregdae

Okay, first of all, nowhere in the first movie was it established that Cyclops was Xavier’s first student. He was said to be among his first, that doesn’t mean he IS the first. Cyclops, Jean, and Storm were among his first students and given that they’re the only ones of the older class still around during the first movie, that was what was stated. nnBeast joined the cast in X3, but it was indicated that he was a previous member of the team. He clearly has a relationship with the older characters and he mentions that his old costume feels tight on him when he puts it on when he’s about to go to battle at the end. So it makes sense to have Beast here in this First Class.nnThe whole Emma thing could easily be solved by stating that they’re two different characters. Was her whole name stated in the Wolverine movie?nnSeriously, a lot of you guys are getting your panties in a bunch for no damn reason.

So…we can get upset when our sports team wears a throwback jersey and the colors don’t sit well with us…we can gripe when someone remakes a song and we don’t like the particular version…but do whatever with an established comic franchise and it shouldn’t matter. I understand the complaints, it feels forced like they just took a bunch of easily recognizable characters and put them together (that and characters whose powers are easy to mimic with special effects and make for the good summer blockbuster season). nnThe one thing I wonder is if there was any attempt to make it feel like what the title says..The First Class. For me this movie should be less filled with characters we know really well (Cyclops, Emma, etc.) and possibly include characters like Amelia Voight (ya know characters who were offered a chance at the school by Xavier but ultimately refused or walked away from his offer ( which also makes sense having Banshee there (remember the scene from Giant Xmen 1 where it seems like Xavier rerecruits Sean to help him rescue his “original” five)).

Why do people who aren’t fans of the comic series keep making these movies? They don’t use the correct characters and they make up their own story lines that aren’t even close to the comics. I understand you can’t get the movies100% like them, but come on you can get the movies closer than they have been. Maybe if I didn’t grow up with the comic series I’d enjoy them more. If you’re going to make a comic book movie know the comic before hand don’t just make it up as you go, you’ll end up pissing a lot less of the fans off.
